Psychotherapy

for Filipino Immigrants in Ontario, Canada

Who you are today is the outcome of many lived experiences that shaped you.

Being part of the Filipino diaspora in Canada, can mean different things. You may have felt pressured to overachieve because of the opportunities you can afford yet feel unable to own your struggles because “others have it so much worse”. You may have found it challenging to navigate social and professional spaces because you’re either “too Filipino” and need to mask your accent or “not Filipino enough” because you can’t speak the language.

But you were very much Pinoy-born and/or raised. You didn’t like that your baon was different at school and did not understand why your parents always had to send money or balikbayan boxes back home even when your family was also struggling. As much as you appreciate them, you also recognize that some of their beliefs, requests, and aspirations for you can be suffocating and yet you’d never say that in fear of being told “wala kang utang na loob” or “Nakarating ka lang ng Canada”.

You’d like to see if it's possible to feel secure about yourself and not rely on others for validation. You’d like to know if you can pursue your interests and desires without hurting your loved ones.

You wonder if it's possible to embrace your cultural identity when many parts of it have hurt you. You’d like to express gratitude, but not at the cost of betraying yourself and abandoning your values.

How it Works

Step 1

When you're ready, you can schedule either an Intake Session or a Mutual Fit Call, and we can explore whether working together would be a suitable fit.

Step 2

If we agree to work together, we can set aside a particular time slot once or twice every week that would be exclusive for you.

Step 3

We’ll have regular 50-minute sessions at the time we both agreed upon and monitor your progress continuously.
